the magic of pictures to SPARK thinking and learning

Judy Will has a Diploma of Teaching (MPCAE)and has been working within the early years for most of her teaching career. She began as a junior primary teacher over 30 years ago and then worked in a part time capacity supporting children with special needs. She is currently working as a Kindergarten Director in South Australia and has recently delivered a series of workshops on extending children’s thinking and the value of empowering children to have ownership of their own learning.
Judy’s growing interest in photography reminded her that the best learning is all around us: it is our natural world. She has found the most valuable and enjoyable learning for both her and the children has been in using the world around them to discover and explore their interests, while also developing an appreciation of the world and where we belong.
It is Judy’s belief that children learn best when intrinsically motivated. That is, when they use their own interests and new questions to develop their thinking: building a positive foundation for learning. The resources have been developed to support teachers and parents to encourage children to think, question, wonder, share and be curious. Judy is continuing to further develop the Picture Magic resources and hopes to inspire both teachers and children with the same ‘real life’ magic that has inspired her and to offer a fresh, exciting approach to teaching and learning.
